HP mini laptops Rs.13,566- Rs.14,930

HP seems to be ensuring that those wishing to buy a laptop are spoilt for choice. After the TouchSmart tm2 and Mini 5102, HP has unleashed the Mini 210 and Mini 2102 PCs. They sport 10.1” standard or alternately, Brightview Infinity HD LED widescreens and island-style keyboards.

The laptops hold 1.6GHz Intel Atom N450 processors, incorporate 1GB of RAM and up to 320GB HDD capacity. The optional Broadcom Crystal HD Enhanced Accelerator enables viewing of 1080p HD video content. Other features include optional GPS, five-in-one digital media slot and integrated VGA port. Connectivity options comprise of 3G broadband, in-built WLN, as well as embedded webcam and microphone.

CloudDrive courtesy of ZumoDrive provides access to synchronized content from the cloud. MediaStream lets owners stream multimedia content from one PC to another via the internet. QuickWeb supplies access to the internet without requiring users to boot up the notebook. QuickSync synchronizes files created or edited on the move with a home or business PC to another over a wireless connection in the same network. Apart from the last mentioned application, the other software come with the Mini 210 only.

The 2.69lbs and 1” thin HP Mini 210 is out in the colors black crystal, pacific blue, silver crystal and Sonoma red HP Imprint finishes. HP Mini 2102 is available black. They are priced at $299 (approx. Rs.13,566) and $329 (approx. Rs.14,930), correspondingly and are out across the U.S. Suggested accessories include an HP USB Media Dock and HP Mini W40 Vehicle Power Adapter, the latter of which cost $49.95 (approx. Rs.2,266).

Dell, Toshiba, Gateway, HP Sport Core i3 Laptops

While Intel's Pine Trail platform based netbooks are raining and looks like Intel Core mobile isn't going to rest either. We say this as Canadian online retailers listings new notebooks from Dell, Toshiba and Gateway sporting Intel Core i3-330M microprocessor were spotted. Dell Inspiron 15 is listed at Costco for $1,029 (Rs. 49,500 approx.), Toshiba Satellite L500 is listed for $800 (Rs. 38,400 approx.) and Gateway NV5905H for $730 (Rs. 35,000 approx.) at Future Shop. While HP's Pavilion dv6-2157sb notebook is listed for $865 (Rs. 41, 520 approx.) As per the listed dates, Dell Inspiron 15 would be available after mid-January while Toshiba and Gateway models would be available after January 8.

The three notebooks listed with new Intel Core i3-330M mobile processor indicates that the chip is going to be announced at the CES 2010 convention. Intel Core i3-330M microprocessor is clocked at 2.13GHz and has 3MB L2 cache. The Dell Inspiron 15 with 15.6-inch TFT glossy wide display and packs 4GB DDR2 RAM with 320GB HDD for storage. For graphics, Dell packs Intel GMA X4500HD graphics and will features 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium.

Toshiba's Satellite L500 has 16-inch display, 4GB DDR3 RAM, 500GB storage, Wi-Fi (b/g/n), 3 USB Ports, dual-layer supporting optical drive, integrated webcam-mic, and multimedia card reader. This Satellite model will sport Windows 7 Home Premium and for graphics it uses Intel Mobile HM55 Express chipset.

Intel's 'Turbo Boost' Core i5 comes to HP laptops

he 15.6-inch HP Pavilion dv6-2170us comes with a 2.26GHz Intel Core i5-430M processor that is advertised as automatically overclocking to 2.53GHz via Intel's Turbo boost technology. This feat is not possible with laptops packing the Core i3 chip, which doesn't feature Turbo Boost.
Prices of the new HP laptop typically range from $900 to $920 at resellers.
Intel will officially roll out the mobile Core i5 and i3 processors on Thursday in tandem with a slew of system announcements from PC makers. The Core i5 and i3 are the first Intel laptop processors to combine two processor cores and a graphics function in one chip package (previously, the graphics chip was in a separate chipset), resulting in better overall power efficiency.
The Core i3 and i5 part ways on Turbo Boost technology, which speeds up or slows down individual cores to meet processing or power efficiency needs. This will only be offered in higher-end Core i5 and i7 processors.
Both the i3 and i5 come with Hyper-Threading, which can double the number of tasks--or threads--a processor can execute. This is not offered in current Core 2 chips.
